Why this site exists
Most free time card calculators are marketing for something else. They are built by payroll software companies to collect your email address, and the calculator is the bait. You enter a week of punches, then discover the export button wants you to create an account.
TallyMyHours is the opposite. The calculator is the product. There is no account, no email capture, no trial, and no feature waiting behind a signup wall. You can download your CSV or print your card without telling us anything about yourself.
How it works
Every calculation runs in your own browser using JavaScript. Your punches, breaks and pay rate are never transmitted to a server, because there is no server doing the maths. If you press Save, your time card is written to your browser's local storage on that device only.
That design has a practical benefit beyond privacy: the tools keep working with a weak connection, and they load quickly because there is very little to download.
Accuracy
The overtime rules are based on the federal Fair Labor Standards Act plus the daily-overtime rules used by several states, including California's eight and twelve hour thresholds and its seventh-consecutive-day premium. Bi-weekly cards assess overtime per workweek rather than across the whole pay period, which is how the law actually treats it and which a surprising number of calculators get wrong.
That said, these are calculators, not payroll software. Employment rules vary by state, by industry and by union agreement, and your employer's written policy governs your actual pay. Use the results to check your own numbers and to have an informed conversation - not as a legal determination.
How the site is funded
TallyMyHours is supported by display advertising. Ads are placed below the calculator rather than above or inside it, because a tool you cannot use is worth nothing to anyone. We do not sell data, because we do not collect any.
